mission statement

The mission of PUENTES, the University of Michigan’s Latinx graduate student welcome program, is to create an equitable space that centers the intersectional identities of incoming Latinx graduate students. We strive to foster a sense of community, healing, and empowerment, where students feel supported and equipped to begin their respective programs.

To create a welcoming atmosphere through familiar culture and activities that will foster the

beginning stages of networking and long-lasting relationships among Latinx graduate students

To provide information about on-campus resources to incoming Latinx graduate students

To develop a sustainable event that will support current and future Latinx graduate students

To ensure that Latinx graduate students are exposed to tools, resources, and success

strategies that can be utilized throughout their program
